Kiel – the scientific stronghold of the north
Three universities, over 33,000 students and a workforce of around 7,000 people stand for a unique academic diversity. Kiel is also home to a number of significant research institutions – such as the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, the renowned Kiel Institute for the World Economy or the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, a world leader in marine research.
Students, scientists, smart and creative individuals do not only come to the north for the excellent study options and job opportunities – they also come because this is a wonderful place to live!
